Taguig City has started inoculating people listed under the A5 group category or the indigent population.

On Friday, the local government sent its vaccination bus to conduct the symbolic vaccination for the indigent sector at Bagong Lipunan Condominium, Tenement in Barangay Western Bicutan.

Mayor Lino Edgardo Cayetano said the vaccination bus which previously accommodated only 200 people a day, was now capable of  handling  1,000  and would be deployed to vaccinate  the A5 category along with A4 individuals who do not qualify as A5, and 2nd dose recipients at Western Bicutan.

“Taguig is also deploying another vaccination bus to vaccinate another 1,000 simultaneously at Barangay Bagumbayan,” said Cayetano.

The A5 category is composed of the poor population on the National Household Targeting System for Poverty Reduction and is part of the city’s COVID-19 Priority Vaccination List.

Cayetano said the symbolic vaccination of the A5 category aims to boost the city’s ongoing vaccination rollout and protect the vulnerable sector from COVID-19.

The city government earlier announced it finished vaccinating the 500-strong member of Taguig City police and had administered the first dose of inoculation for 420 city farmers and fisher folk.

“The need to vaccinate these people is truly important. Their job is very essential and crucial to our community,” said Cayetano.

Taguig vowed to support all farmers and fisherfolk, and continue to create an avenue to sustain their livelihood.

-“We’re doing the best that we can to help all our farmers and fisherfolk. We’ll extend all the support we can give to them to sustain their livelihood. Even though Taguig is a highly urbanized city, the agricultural sector is one of our priorities,” added Cayetano.

The city government has so far vaccinated more than 250,000 individuals across the A1-A4 categories and targets to vaccinate 700,000 eligible individuals by the end of the year.
