Rising P-Pop group BGYO cites BTS for dream collab

The members of the fast-rising P-Pop boy group, BGYO, have revealed in a recent interview that BTS is one of the biggest music acts that they wanted to collaborate with if given the chance. 

BGYO slowly breaks into the international arena by joining the Australian-based radio station for an interview.

On Thursday, the P-Pop quintet  — composed of Gelo, Akira, JL, Mikki, and Nate —- sat down for an interview with SBS PopAsia, a 24/7 Asian pop radio station based in Australia.

Apart from the grammy-nominated act, the boys also cited 88rising, NCT, 88rising, DPR Live, and Sam Kim among the Asian artists that they wanted to work within a music project.

“I’d like to work with a lot of Kpop artists or groups like BTS, NCT, 88rising artists, and KZ Tandingan because I like their style, their personality, and I think they’re amazing people on-and-off cam,” Gelo, the group’s leader, said.

The group dreams to go beyond the local sphere, but within the Philippine music landscape, the members named Morissette as among other Filipino musicians whom they wanted to work with. 

“[…] and (also) Kuya Iñigo (Pascual) because he’s so nice, friendly, approachable plus I love his music,” Aki said.

JL bashfully expressed his admiration over Asia’s Phoenix, Morisette. 

“Miss Morisette, she is very confident and she owns the stage. I look up to her.” 

Mikki, on the other hand, said he wants to collaborate with Zack Tabudlo, Zild, and many more Kpop groups.

BGYO’s recent activity included releasing a new single entitled, “He’s into Her,” which is the official soundtrack of ABS-CBN’s weekly series of the same title.

“The song is about love and courage, courage to acknowledge the feelings for another person and the feeling of being loved,” Gelo stated alluding to the meaning that the song evokes.

To end the interview, BYGO sent heartfelt and positive messages to ACEs, the collective name of their fandom. They were also thrilled to have learned that they have a growing fan base in Australia.

“To all the ACEs out there, we just want to say thank you so much for loving us and supporting us and we will always be connected even if we are apart,” Mikki said.

Nate added, “Please make sure you stay happy, you stay strong, you wake up every day with a smile, and you make your family happy everyday.”

True to the group’s goal to inspire and empower the youths across the globe, Gelo said the group promises to do their best all the time so they can be an inspiration to more people.

“Always take care of yourself, we promise to do our best every single day so we can inspire more people around the world,” Gelo said.

BGYO has been a consistent trending topic among followers on social media platforms. The P-Pop group has been considered as a rising act on the scene because. It is slowly taking the international stage and the group’s appearance on SBS Australia is just already a milestone of its own.

Last month, BGYO broke into the international music arena as it debuted on the second spot of the Next Big Sound chart of international music charting site Billboard.

According to Billboard, the leading provider of online music analytics and insights that track hundreds of thousands of artists worldwide, the Next Big Sound chart tracks “the fastest accelerating artists during the past week, across all major social music sites, statistically predicted to achieve future success." 

Prior to landing on the Next Big Sound Chart, BGYO also debuted at number 2 on Next Big Sound's Pandora Predictions Chart, where artists appear based on their likelihood of success.
