Mongkolpetch Petchyindee Academy has been no less than impressive since entering ONE Championship in 2019.

Now he looks to prove that he deserves to move up in the rankings of the ONE Super Series Muay Thai flyweight division.

To do so, he will put his unbeaten record in ONE on the line when he takes on takes on #4-ranked Muay Thai flyweight Elias “The Sniper” Mahmoudi at the previously recorded ONE: FULL BLAST II this Friday, 11 June.

The 26-year-old scored some impressive wins over the likes of Alexi “Phet” Serepisos, Joseph “The Hurricane” Lasiri, and Kun Khmer Flyweight World Champion Sok Thy, priming him to barge into the rankings and maybe even challenge Rodtang “The Iron Man” Jitmuangnon for his ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Title in the future.

With that in mind, he knows he has to be at his best against Mahmoudi.

“I had almost three weeks to prepare for this fight. Me and my trainers worked together to study the tapes of Elias's previous fights carefully, especially the match between him and Petchdam,” Mongkolpetch said.

“Even though they fought under kickboxing rules, we still can see his Muay Thai technique and his counter gameplan.”

It will be easier said than done as “The Sniper” presents a real challenge with his size and his style of attacking from different angles.

However, it’s not a style that is foreign to the Petchyindee Academy camp.

“Elias has experience in both Muay Thai and kickboxing. He is a sharp and heavy-hitting striker, especially with his fist and elbows,” Mongkolpetch said.

“His weaknesses, as I can see, are his legs and chin. He is tall like Alaverdi Ramazanov, who fought [my teammate] Capitan [Petchyindee Academy]. So, we decided to use the same plan, aiming for his calf.

“This trick should allow us to withstand him because he is quite tall. I’ve focused on practicing my punch specifically for him too.”

A win here would certainly do wonders for his ascent in the rankings, and leading into the bout, he sent a warning shot to the man standing in his way.

“I'm ready, 100 percent. I’ve won three fights in a row, and if I can win this fight, I may get into the rankings and have a chance to challenge for the World Title against Rodtang, which is my ultimate goal,” he said.

“In this fight, I’m going to knock him out, and I want to warn Elias: 'Watch out for my fist.’”
