CDC, SM Prime sign agreement to construct intermodal transport station at Clark Freeport

CLARK FREEPORT—State-run Clark Development Corp. and SM Prime Inc. agreed to construct an intermodal transport terminal at a 23,955-square-meter lot at the Southern Gateway District in this free port zone, CDC officials said Monday.

CDC president and chief executive Manuel Gaerlan and SM Prime Inc. president Jeffrey Lim signed a lease of agreement for the project at the corporate office of CDC.

Under the agreement, Premier Clark Complex Inc. will develop the terminal aimed at improving the efficiency of public transportation servicing the Metro Clark area.

The terminal project will be a four-story building that will include ancillary facilities such as waiting area for passengers, restrooms and other amenities required for an intermodal transportation system.

COVID-related safety protocols and guidelines will also be implemented at the site.

CDC vice president for business development and business enhancement group Rynah Ventura and SM Supermalls assistant vice president for North Luzon operations Bien Mateo also attended the signing ceremony at Conrad Hotel Manila.

Other Clark officials who witnessed the activity and extended their support for the project are Presidential Adviser for Clark Programs and Projects and former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, Bases Conversion and Development Authority president and chief executive Secretary Vivencio Dizon and BCDA chairman Gregorio Garcia III.

SM Supermalls president Steven Tan and SM Prime director Darlene Barberabe were also present at the event.

CDC chairman Edgardo Pamintuan took part in the activity through virtual conferencing.
