The Quezon City government has started the distribution of the national government’s financial assistance to “QCitizens” in 30 sites covering 40 villages.

The city government of Taguig City also started distributing financial assistance to the families affected by the stricter community quarantine imposed by the government to stop the continuing spike of COVID-19 cases.

The QC government has based the list of workers and low-income families from the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s social amelioration program list, waitlisted, Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program, and the city’s own SAP list.

The Quezon City Treasurer’s Office, Social Services and Development Department, Information Technology Development Department, Office of the City Mayor and the Office of City Administrator spent the previous days purging the duplicates in the consolidated list.

About 2.4 million individuals from over 800,000 families stand to receive P1,000 each with a maximum amount of P4,000 per family.

The national government has allocated P2,481,942,000 for the beneficiaries.

To avoid crowding and ensure that minimum health protocols will be observed, the city yesterday gave out the financial aid or ayuda to 2,000 residents only per distribution center.

During the initial distribution at the Tipas Elementary School and Upper Bicutan Elementary School on Wednesday, more than 2,000 residents of Barangays Ligid-Tipas and North Daang Hari received their cash assistance in the amount not exceeding P4,000.

According to Mayor Lino Edgardo Cayetano, the distribution “will be made in batches with strict observance of proper social distancing to ensure the safety of the drivers.”

“Claimants were also advised to practice other health protocols such as wearing face masks and shields in the distribution venues,” he said.

Taguig-Pateros Rep. Allan Peter Cayetano and other local officials in the city visited the area and supervised the initial distribution in the city, which started around 1 p.m.

Cayetano is the principal author of the 10K Ayuda Bill at the House of Representatives which aims to give each Filipino family P10,000 or P1,500 per family member, whichever is higher, that they can use for their daily needs or to start their own businesses as the country waits for the full roll-out of the COVID-19 vaccination program.

Today, the distribution in Taguig will be held at Taguig Integrated School where the beneficiaries will be coming from Barangay Tuktukan while residents of Barangay Fort Bonifacio will get their financial assistance in Gat Andres Bonifacio Elementary School.

Residents in Ususan, Bambang, Katuparan and South Signal will receive their financial assistance on Saturday in Ususan Elementary School, Taguig Integrated School, Diosdado Macapagal High School and Signal Village National High School, respectively.

On Sunday, residents of Barangays Wawa, Tanyag, Calzada and Central Bicutan will get their financial assistance in Taguig Integrated School, Bagong Tanyag Integrated School, Tipas Elementary School and Upper Bicutan Elementary School.

Residents of Barangays Lower Bicutan, Palingon, North Signal and Maharlika will receive their cash assistance Tuesday next week in RP Cruz Elementary School, Tipas Elementary School, Signal Village National High School and Silangan Elementary School.

The distribution in Barangays Napindan, Hagonoy, Pinagsama and South Daang Hari will be held the next day in Napindan Integrated School, CP Tinga Elementary School, Kapt. Eddie Reyes Integrated School and Bagong Tanyag Elementary School (Annex A).

On April 15, local officials are scheduled to give financial assistance to residents of Barangays Ibayo, New Lower Bicutan, Western Bicutan and San Miguel in Tipas Elementary School, RP Cruz Elementary School, Tenement Elementary School and EC Santos Elementary School.

The rest of the beneficiaries should receive their cash assistance during distributions scheduled for the coming days.

The financial assistance from the national government is expected to cover each family’s additional necessities amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, and is apart from the food packs and health kits distributed by the local government. Rio N. Araja and Joel E. Zurbano
