Lakay’s early 2021 success sign of good things to come

The success of Team Lakay in the early months of 2021 is an inspiration to Filipino fighters, who are getting ready for big fights in the coming weeks.

Coach Mark Sangiao said this as veteran fighters Edward Folayang and Lito Adiwang and latest addition Stephen Loman get ready for action against challengers in the coming weeks during the ONE on TNT series.

“Tingin ko, ito ay isang magandang senyales na naghahandang mabuti ang team. Last year year, pangit ang resulta. Pero nakapag-adjust na tayo,” said Sangiao, who considers the victories posted by Adiwang last January and that of Jennifer Olsim last month as morale boosters.

Last Jan. 22, Adiwang made his victory memorable by dedicating it to his late mother, who passed away at the end of 2020.

Adiwang floored his debuting opponent Namiki Kawahara with a left hook in the second round of their strawweight mixed martial arts tilt.

On the other hand, Olsim came out of an 18-month layoff by taking down Maira Mazar by submission in the 41-second mark of the third round last March.

“Sa resulta natin maipapakita ang magandang paghahanda ng Team Lakay,” added Sangiao.

In their coming fights, Sangiao sees Adiwang training intensely with Folayang and Loman.

Adiwang is set to meet strawweight bet Jared Brooks in the undercard of “One on TNT II” on April 14 in Singapore.

Folayang confronts a Japanese-Korean mixed martial art fighter in Choo Sung-hoon.

Choo is well known as Yushihiro Akiyama, a welterweight who will be going down to the lightweight division to face Folayang in ONE on TNT IV on April 14.

Meanwhile, Loman takes on John “The Heart of Stone” Lineker in one of the undercards of “One on TNT III” on April 21 in Singapore.
