Uniqlo opens first store in Butuan, appoints Doraemon as global sustainability ambassador

Japanese fashion retailer Uniqlo continues its series of store openings, this time in Butuan City in Agusan del Norte. 

Opening on March 26, the 859-square-meter store is located on the ground floor of SM City Butuan, along JC Aquino Avenue.

 

Uniqlo’s Butuan branch features a spacious 859-square-meter retail space. 

Butuanons can have access to the complete lineup of LifeWear clothing for women, men, kids, and babies, including Uniqlo shirts, pants, jeans, denims, dresses, the AIRism collection, and UV protection pieces. On the opening week, customers can enjoy special offers on selected items.

Uniqlo on March 22 announced the appointment of Doraemon as its global sustainability ambassador.

For its ambassadorship, the beloved blue anime and manga character, along with the Uniqlo logo, is rendered in green to convey the message of “Changing our future through the power of clothing.”

“We are delighted to partner with Doraemon,” said Koji Yanai, group senior executive officer at Fast Retailing. “Over the past two decades, Uniqlo has undertaken numerous sustainability initiatives through business to contribute to a better, more sustainable world. We believe that the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, social transformations, and evolving consumer attitudes make it more important than ever to collaborate with customers and other stakeholders in driving positive social change.”

Doraemon joins Japanese actress Haruka Ayase and Uniqlo global brand ambassadors Roger Federer, Kei Nishikori, Shingo Kunieda, Gordon Reid, Ayumu Hirano, and Adam Scott in taking the brand’s sustainability initiatives forward.
