The Warriors of Passion initiative, conceptualized by Down Syndrome Association of the Philippines, Inc. (DSAPI) president Luis Martin Harder, presents four artworks created by award-winning watercolorist Noel Sadicon. The paintings are reprinted in limited quantities and available for sale.

According to Harder, the main objective of the project is to express gratitude and respect to doctors and nurses who are acknowledged as heroes of the ongoing war against coronavirus, and who have always been caring and supportive toward families that have children with Down syndrome. Harder’s daughter, Adeline Lois, was born with the genetic disorder.

“This pandemic ignited our communal spirit of honoring the medical personnel who have always been helpful in addressing our plight,” said Harder, who also dabbles in visual art, having had his one-man photography exhibit and coffee table of his work a few years back.

The four paintings were based on how the health crisis unfolded. The first piece, entitled “Encounter,” illustrates the confusion during the initial weeks of the outbreak and the courage of the medical personnel in facing the coronavirus.

“Sacrifice of Life” depicts the lives lost during the fight, while “Tears of Heaven” reflects the prayers for safety as the war rages on.

The fourth piece, the final stage of the series, showcases the continuing efforts of those in the medical field with the assistance of scientists, governments, and various industries. It is aptly titled “Hope of Victory.”

“I am one with DSAPI’s advocacy as I feel the selfless sacrifices of these professionals as key to humanity’s survival,” said Sadicon, who has been devoting countless hours creating artworks inside his home studio during the pandemic.

Each painting is sold for P4,500. The complete set, signed and boxed, is priced at P16,000 and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity. Proceeds from the sale of the artworks will benefit the DSAPI community.
