The Parañaque City government on Thursday started its vaccination simulation process in line with the city’s anti-COVID-19 program this year.

Led by Mayor Edwin Olivarez and his wife Janet, the city government conducted the first simulation process at the Ayala Malls Manila Bay.

“The simulation shows the readiness of the city from the facilities to be used to the skills of the officers, doctors and nurses who will assist each resident who will be given a vaccine for COVID-19,” Mayor Olivarez said.

Some 200 community-based target individuals, as well as city health medical personnel and barangay healthcare workers, took part in the first mass vaccination simulation exercise.

Olivarez said that aside from big malls in the city, they will also designate main COVID vaccination to the community.

To avoid mishandling of the vaccines, they will also establish satellite locations in different barangays in the city, he said.

The mayor also announced that the COVID-19 vaccine pre-registration and screening is now ongoing by scanning the QR code in his Facebook account or at oneparanaque.net to get started and register.

The local government has allocated P250 million for its COVID-19 vaccination program to shoulder the costs of its free COVID vaccination initiative.

Aside from its own vaccination fund, the city government will have an additional P1 billion funds on stand-by, which it plans to borrow from the Landbank of the Philippines, according to city treasurer Dr. Anthony Pulmano.

“To protect our residents from the deadly disease, we will prioritize our frontliners, senior citizens and other vulnerable,” said Olivarez, who presently chairs the Metro Manila Council.

He assured that around 500,000 bonafide residents of Paranaque will receive the vaccine.
