The city government of Manila on Monday received nine COVID-19 vaccine refrigeration units in line with the preparation for the upcoming vaccination activities in Manila.
Manila Mayor Francisco ‘“Isko Moreno” Domagoso inspected the machines upon arrival at the Sta. Ana Hospital, the place where the city’s COVID-19 Vaccine Storage Facility will be built.
Domagoso said the hospital received five Haier HYC-390 refrigeration units intended as storage of vaccines upon arrival, along with four biomedical freezers.
According to the Domagoso, the local government is also set to receive three -86 degrees Celsius ULT Freezers from Haier which can also store vaccine vials.
“The units are equipped with uninterruptible power supply (UPS) to ensure the integrity of the vaccines,” Domagoso said.
“Fifty transport coolers are also on the way for the immediate deployment once the city government’s vaccination operations begin,” he said.
While vaccine doses have yet to arrive in the country, Domagoso said the procurement of the vaccine storage units is necessary so that the city government can immediately launch its vaccination activities once cleared by the national government.
“In the meantime, we are preparing other facilities, our logistic capabilities, process of deployment, and future clients on top of medical frontliners and senior citizens,” Domagoso said.

On the other hand, Domagoso said the local government aims to inaugurate the COVID-19 Vaccine Storage Facility at the Sta. Ana Hospital by the end of January.
Earlier, Domagoso announced the launch of the website www.manilacovid19vaccine.com for the pre-registration of Manila City residents for the upcoming vaccination activities.
Domagoso said that the local government will still prioritize healthcare workers and senior citizens, among others, in line with the guidelines set by the World Health Organization, Inter-Agency Task Force and the Department of Health.
