In an intimate lunch with some members of the entertainment press, Senator Bong Revilla shared a few details about his upcoming series on GMA. Entitled Agimat Ng Agila, the weekly series is set to hit the small screen in the summer.
“It will air either in March or April,” the actor-politician, accompanied by his wife Bacoor Mayor Lani Mercado, stated.
The 13-episode adventure series directed by Rico Gutierrez includes Sanya Lopez, Michelle Dee, Sheryl Cruz, Benjie Paras, and Allen Dizon in the cast.
“We finished it in a lock-in taping. That’s the first season,” Bong, who corrected himself a few times for saying that the project was a movie, shared.
“It’s a weekly series but I keep on saying that it’s a movie because the quality of the project and even the technology that we used for shooting it were the same as the ones we use for a big-screen project. Para talaga siyang pelikula,” he told the showbiz scribes adding that they can actually do a compressed version of the series and it can pass as a full length feature.
Meanwhile, more members of the senate are supporting Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto’s Senate Bill No. 1967, which seeks to renew the franchise of ABS-CBN that expired last year in May. Bong, despite having a personal grudge against the network’s news department, has expressed his support for moves to grant ABS-CBN a new franchise.
“Yes, I am for the renewal. Kahit may sama ng loob ako sa kanila. I’m talking about the News & Public Affairs and not the entertainment department. Yung sa entertainment, kaibigan ko lahat yun. Sila Ma’am Charo (Santos), Malou Santos, Olive Lamasan…remember, I'm the first actor of Star Cinema. Adan Ronquillo, kami ni Sheryl Cruz,” the 54-year-old actor-politician stressed.
“I’m all for the renewal even before and up to now, I support the ABS-CBN franchise. It has been my stand. If they had committed anything, I think they have suffered enough for it. Since the shutdown, the employees have been jobless and it’s time we help them get their jobs back,” he ended.

The PMPC is a group of professional and active entertainment journalists of newspapers, magazines, and tabloids, bloggers/vloggers, online influencers, and radio/ TV/ online reporters in the country. It functions as an independent award-giving body through the PMPC Star Awards for Movies, PMPC Star Awards for Television, and PMPC Star Awards for Music. The group is known for honoring Filipino artists for nearly 40 years and its annual Star Awards ceremonies are highly anticipated in showbiz industry.
Apart from Castro elected were Fernan de Guzman as Vice President, Mell Navarro as Secretary, and Mildred Bacud as Assistant Secretary.
Boy Romero remained as Treasurer while Lourdes Fabian was chosen as Assistant Treasurer. John Fontanilla is Auditor while Rodel Fernando and Leony Garcia retained their posts as PROs.
The 2021 Board of Directors are composed of immediate past presidents Sandy Mariano and Joe Barrameda, Eric Borromeo, Timmy Basil, Rommel Placente, and Francis Simeon.
