His family has yet to release an official statement on the cause of death of the popular '90s jukebox singer and composer.

Six years ago, April Boy quit show business after he was diagnosed with prostate cancer. He revealed in a television interview that he was "cancer-free" but was suffering from a heart ailment. In 2015, he was diagnosed with diabetic retinopathy that caused him to lose sight in his left eye.

Known for his trademark caps, April Boy's hits include “Paano Ang Puso Ko,” "Umiiyak Ang Puso,” “Di Ko Kayang Tanggapin,” the Judy Ann Santos’ drama series theme song “Esperanza,” and the catchy novelty dance tune, “Ye Ye Bonnel.”

April Boy is survived by his wife Madel, daughter Charm, and son JC, who is also following in his footsteps.
