Shoppers at SM Megamall had a chance to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables, locally made food products, and plants during a special weekend pop-up.
SM Supermalls brought Farmers’ Produce Market at the Mega Fashion Hall on September 25-27 and October 2-4 as part of its partnership with the Department of Agriculture and Resto PH to bring products from Filipino farmers straight to consumers.
The two-weekend sale saw a variety of highland vegetables from Benguet’s Cada Farmers Agriculture Cooperative; export quality coconut products from Quezon’s Best in Tiaong, Quezon Province; farm fresh quail and chicken eggs from Lololylalala Egg Trading in Taytay, Rizal; mango jam and dried mangoes from Granah Consumer Goods in Guimaras Island; and freshly picked durian, lanzones, and mangosteen from John and Jing Fruits in Davao.
Central Luzon traders also showcased their products during the fair. These included chicharon, garlic chips, and roasted cashew nuts from John N’ Mico in Pampanga; smoked and dried fish products from Mama Agnes Enterprises; and fruits and vegetables from L. Sanchez Farm in San Ildefonso, Bulacan and Munting Paraiso ni Yoly Farm in Angat, Bulacan.
Products from Metro Manila included Queen B’s honey and other bee products; Marc Daniel’s featured vegetarian products like tofu and chilled taho; and Don Dairy PH’s flavored carabao’s milk and fruit yogurt.
“Plantito” and “plantita” shoppers were also able to check out a range of best-selling plants from the Bureau of Plant and Industry. The Bureau also gave away vegetable seeds and seedlings to the attendees.
With 24 participating merchants, the recent fair was the biggest and longest SM Farmers’ Produce Market caravan leg yet. It will then head over to SM Southmall on October 16-18 and 23-25.
