A whisky journey

Johnnie Walker marks its 200th year by bringing whisky drinkers on a journey of flavor.

The new the Johnnie Walker Black Label Origin Series features two blends: Johnnie Walker Black Label Speyside Origin and Johnnie Walker Black Label Lowlands Origin, each named after the region where it was made.

Johnnie Walker Black Label Speyside Origin is a light and fruity whisky with hints of cut green apple and orchard fruit. Made exclusively from quality single malts from the Speyside region, it features whisky from the distilleries of Cardhu and Glendullan at its heart.

Meanwhile, Johnnie Walker Black Label Lowlands Origin has a luxuriously sweet and creamy mouth-feel, with vanilla character and subtle notes of toffee. It is made exclusively from a variety of single malt and grain whiskies from the Lowlands, including distilleries of Glenkinchie and Cameronbridge.

“The Johnnie Walker Black Label Origin Series focuses on the most distinct flavors that Johnnie Walker Black Label drinkers love, and creates other expressions out of those,” said Rian Asiddao, Diageo Reserve brand ambassador.

“It’s perfect for those who are feeling adventurous and want to dabble into different tastes.”

The new whisky blends are priced at P1,899 per bottle, available exclusively at The Booze Shop (www.boozeshop.ph).

Bloom like summer

Gin lovers are in for a summer-y treat with Hendrick’s limited edition Midsummer Solstice.

The premium gin label said in a statement, “Midsummer Solstice discerns itself with the infusion of deeply floral essences that enhance the liquid’s existing botanical bouquet and captures the mystery of some of nature’s most effervescent blooms.

Hendrick’s limited edition Midsummer Solstice is a refreshing gin that heavily features deeply floral character.

“The result is an enchantingly floral and exquisitely refreshing gin that blossoms on the palate while remaining unmistakably Hendrick’s.”

Its bright and deep floral character makes it perfect for a variety of refreshing mixed drinks and cocktails. Go to www.hendricksgin.com/us/midsummer-solstice for a list of recipes.

Midsummer Solstice was created by Hendrick’s Master Distiller Lesley Gracie at the heart of the Hendrick’s Gin Palace in the Cabinet of Curiosities.

“A deeply rooted respect for nature and its most beautiful creations excited me to capture the aromas and flavors of a midsummer day and I am truly enamored over this first release from the Cabinet of Curiosities,” said Gracie.

The Gin Palace is dedicated to the exploration and discovery of new tastes and flavors, it is a center of distilling excellence and a place where Hendrick’s expands the taste spectrum through the creation of new variants.

Over the past two decades, Gracie has amassed in her Cabinet of Curiosities an array of treasured botanicals, distillates, and experimental liquids from around the world.

According to Hendrick’s, additional new and unique gins will be released, replacing the previous expression, and each variant will only be available exclusively during its launch year.

Hendrick’s Midsummer Solstice is now available at selected S&R stores.
