Let ‘The Clash’ begin

While almost everyone is turning to the digital landscapes, GMA Network is doing something different for the viewers and fans of the annual reality singing search, The Clash. Though auditions were held virtually, live performances are happening in a studio complete with the presence of the hosts and panelists.

In a virtual interview with Manila Standard Entertainment, host Julie Anne San Jose gave us a glimpse of what people can expect from the show that is having its third season premiere tomorrow night.

“In terms of format, there’s no much change but of course, given the situation we are facing right now, only a few people are allowed in the studio, there’s no live audience as well. It’s a bit difficult but the network wanted to ensure the safety of everyone, from the staff and crew to the contestants in the show,” Julie shared.

“The stage would look bigger for sure as we observe social distancing. We have added a few segments that will serve as an important part of the show,” the singer added.

A new breed of talented contenders will battle it out towards becoming the next singing sensation on this all-original musical competition, which is known for its exciting twists at every round. This season promises fiercer and tougher singing face-offs.

Joining Julie is fellow Clash Master, Rayver Cruz, and Journey Hosts Rita Daniela and Ken Chan.

For Rita learning the contestants’ off-cam stories is something that she is glad to share with the viewers.

“I’m more than happy because I get to work again with the people that I love. I really can’t wait to hear all the wonderful stories of our Clashers. I’m excited to be their ate.”

Likewise, Ken is also looking forward to meeting the new group of Clashers. “I miss talking and bonding with Clashers and their family. This season, I’m excited to know more of the stories that they are about to share.”

Taking their seats anew as The Clash Panel are Lani Misalucha, Christian Bautista, and AiAi Delas Alas.

“I always look for someone with a certain uniqueness in his/her voice, someone who sings with genuine emotion, and has impressive stage presence and an amazing personality,” Lani said. “I’m absolutely excited to see and experience what's going to happen in this season.”

For Christian, the vocal battles will be even more intense, “The intensity of judging, guiding, and constructively building new champions is very exciting. It will really be more intense and nerve-wracking for the contestants because we are facing tough times right now.”

Aiai, in turn, is also stoked to be back in the studio, “We are in the ‘new normal,’ we have the opportunity to do things differently and better. The Clash is always big, and I’m sure it will be even bigger ngayon dahil sa mahuhusay na contestants. Hindi lang ako excited, I am ablaze with energy para sa The Clash Season 3!”

The Clash Season 3, which airs Saturday (7:15 p.m.) and Sunday (7:45 p.m.) on GMA-7, in under the direction of Louie Ignacio and musical arrangements by Marc Lopez.
