Energy players said business confidence is the key to economic recovery amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Executives of Pilipinas Shell Petroleum Corp. and AC Energy Inc. said during a webinar sponsored by Standard Chartered they remain committed to investing in the country despite the pandemic.

“The energy sector’s rebound is really dependent on the speed of the country’s recovery and ability to cope with the crisis and making sure we are able to rebuild consumer confidence,” Pilipinas Shell Petroleum Corp. treasurer Jose Jerome Pascual III said during the webinar titled “Philippines-The rising tiger of Asia.”

AC Energy chief executive John Eric Francia said while the power sector was also hit by the crisis, business confidence had returned.

“Definitely our confidence is there. We took a pause when the crisis hit, but now we are back on track. We are investing. We are very thankful that government is taking that balance between health and economic crisis and things are moving along,” Francia said.
