The Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM) recently conducted its first dry run for the simulation of their virtual classrooms, which will be used in carrying out the Academic Year 2020-2021.
Classes in PLM will officially start on October 5, and three weeks before they open final preparations are now in full blast.
PLM President Emmanuel Leyco was quite pleased with how their simulation went last Monday, September 14. He said the simulation gave them the confidence that they can pull off blended learning modes.
“We hope that this experience will also help students to adjust to our ‘new normal’ in education and are better prepared once the formal classes start,” Leyco said.
During the simulation, PLM was able to address different incidents. Some students had slow internet connectivity, while some students and teachers temporarily lost their connection. Other concerns were about the students having a hard time entering into Microsoft Teams, the chosen platform of PLM.
The Information and Communications Technology Office of PLM is also completing the sending of Outlook emails and class schedules for their new and returning students three weeks prior to the opening of classes.
Since internet connectivity is a huge issue for virtual classes, PLM has prepared printed modules for their students who indicated they did not have access to internet or computer gadgets.
The materials will then be distributed through the Manila Barangay Bureau for students residing in the City of Manila.
