VIB impounds stray animals in schools

The Veterinary Inspection Board (VIB) Impounding Team hasӠresponded to the requests of several academic institutions and Barangays to conduct impounding activities in their respective areas, the Manila Public Information Office (MPIO) said on Wednesday.

A total 13 stray cats and 12 stray dogs from Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila, College of the Holy Spirit, Arquiza, Mendiola, Sta. Mesa and Tondo were transferred to the Manila City Pound this Tuesday, August 12.

According to VIB Director Nicanor Santos Jr., the department was dedicated to cover more areas and respond to the requests from the local executives to conduct more impounding operations.

"Although the pandemic limits our movement, we see to it to respond immediately to those who will need our services," he said.

Likewise, the director also appealed to the pet owners to remain responsible amid the coronavirus outbreak.

"Do not let your pets roam around the streets, especially during this crisis. There is a threat and it is important that we keep everyone safe, including animals," Santos said.
