Superbon came into ONE Championship with only one thing on his mind—to prove he is the best at what he does.
In order to do that, he needs to finish an old rivalry first.
Superbon battles “The Killer Kid” Sitthichai Sitsongpeenong in a ONE Super Series Featherweight Kickboxing contest at ONE: NO SURRENDER in Bangkok, Thailand this Friday, 31 July.
It will be the third time they face each other, after splitting their two matches back in 2016.
Superbon lost the first bout as he was just beginning his transition to kickboxing. He evened the score eight months later, however, and he is confident he can get the same result this time.
“I lost to him in the first fight because I fought kickboxing only two times before that,” Superbon told ONEFC.com.
“I hadn’t gotten used to the rules and kickboxing style yet. When we met again [eight months later], I was 100 percent confident, and I could see that my weapons were faster and more accurate than him.”
Despite being certain that he can win Friday’s bout, he is not overlooking the skills of his old foe.
Sitthichai is one of the best kickboxers on the planet, and Superbon knows he has to weather the storm “The Killer Kid” will bring.
“Sitthichai’s strengths would be his left punch and left kick,” Superbon said.
“He is the type of opponent who will keep throwing his weapons endlessly, but they are not powerful. He is the [type of] person who keeps on fighting with no rest. It’s hard to find a fighter who keeps fighting all three rounds like him.”
As much as he respects his opponent’s skill set, Superbon believes he has gotten so much better since he last battled Sitthichai —and he believes that if he can keep the pace with his rival, he can score the win.
“For me, in the last two bouts [we had], especially the last one that I won, I felt that I did better than him because I am faster. My weapons are more powerful than Sitthichai’s, and also, I am much faster,” Superbon said.
“I just need my endurance so I can keep fighting the whole three rounds.”
Catch ONE: NO SURRENDER this Friday at 8:30 pm. The event will air live on One Sports, One Sports+, and the ONE Super App. It will also re-air on TV5 the next day, August 1 at 11 p.m.
