“Recognizing excellence is important to our firm. That means empowering people who are making a difference with our clients and communities. Providing our clients with a unique experience, high-quality results, and collaborative thinking is what makes us stand out in the industry. We are proud to count these transformational leaders as an important part of our team,” Españo said.

Firm partners, she said, excel in helping clients discover innovative solutions to their businesses in an ever-changing environment. “I believe they are equipped with an extraordinary ability to lead and build relationships with clients and with people at all levels,” she said.

Marcelo previously joined P&A in 1995 in the audit and assurance division and rejoined the company recently. His work experience includes conducting financial audit, due diligence, business process reviews, and fraud investigations.

He then moved to join the shared services industry, working for a top commercial bank and a global law firm where he headed the financial reporting, finance and accounting, procurement and business process re-engineering operations.

He returned to P&A in 2017 to join the BPS division where he was tasked to manage the staff augmentation engagements and concurrently leads the critical support unit.

Marcelo is the executive vice-president and managing director of P&A Grant Thornton Outsourcing. He earned his accounting degree from Colegio de San Juan de Letran and is a certified public accountant. As a new Partner, he will join BPS/Outsourcing with Paz Malubay.

Meanwhile, Nikkolai Canceran was a director in P&A Grant Thornton’s tax advisory and compliance practice before joining the partnership.

He began his professional career in the firm’s audit and assurance division in 2007 and later joined the tax advisory and compliance division in 2008.

His extensive experience in providing tax compliance and due diligence audit and tax outsourcing services to local and multinational companies has earned him the confidence of the firm. He has also crafted tax studies and opinions and transfer pricing studies for many clients.

Canceran graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy from Far Eastern University and is a certified public accountant.

As a new partner, Canceran will join tax advisory and compliance partners Olivier Aznar and Edward Roguel and tax principal Eleanor Roque.

Following a rigorous selection process, applicants from within the company are prioritized from candidates from other companies.

“In our firm, the next in line would be the directors. So we matched the competencies of the directors to the competencies that we are looking for,” Españo said.

The company now has 24 partners.

“I am tremendously proud of the promotion of Elie and Nikkolai. Both of them are incredibly impressive and have demonstrated genuine care for our clients, our people, and the community,” Españo said.
