The Government Service Insurance System has granted P10.12 billion in loans to over 200,000 active members and pensioners nationwide as of May 13 this year, GSIS president and general manager Rolando Ledesma Macasaet said over the weekend.
Some P4.78 billion or 47 percent were released in the form of emergency loans while P5.34 billion or 53 percent were disbursed through consolidated (conso-loan), policy and pension loans.
Conso-loan, policy and pension loans are regular loans offered by GSIS that may be availed of anytime by qualified borrowers. The emergency loan is for those affected by disasters in regions or provinces declared as calamity areas by the government.
The COVID-19 Emergency Loan, launched in April 13, was the first emergency loan window opened by GSIS on a national scale after President Duterte declared a state of public health emergency in the entire country.
