True to the bayanihan spirit, all plants of the Pepsi Cola Products Philippines Inc. (PCPPI)—the exclusive manufacturer of PepsiCo beverages and snacks in the country—are initiating donation drives for the benefit of the country’s unsung frontline heroes who are manning checkpoints during the time of COVID-19 pandemic.

For Luzon operations, all of its business units donated more than a hundred cases of drinks and lent to local government units tents for the use of frontliners across the region. This was led by Metro Sales’ General Manager Jojo Laurena and Senior General Manager Alvin Valencia.

The Southern Tagalog Region Operations (STRO), led by General Manager Oliver Onrubia, also went out to personally handover hydration drinks—including Premier Water, Gatorade, and Pepsi—to six checkpoints around the STRO plant. The main areas include Sto. Tomas Exit, Sto. Tomas-Calamba Exit, and Sto. Tomas Tanauan Exit.

The same donation drive was done in the company’s Central Luzon Operations, specifically in San Fernando, Pampanga plant, which was led by General Manager Ed Apolonia.

“PCPPI has always maintained our dedication to our countrymen, especially when they would need assistance in times of crisis. This initiative of our plants across the country proves that we are all in this together, helping each other as we hope to save lives, and win against this virus as one,” said PCPPI president and CEO Frederick D. Ong.

In the Visayas and Mindanao, the company’s Cagayan de Oro plant, headed by General Manager Bob Flores, is also currently sending out more than a thousand cases of hydration drinks to checkpoints around the said province. The Bacolod and Zamboanga plants deployed tents for checkpoint areas, as represented by General Manager Gerry Madamba and General Manager Richard Abella, respectively.

“This is an example of great people giving great products to great and courageous frontliners,” Ong added.

PCPPI earlier announced in a statement that since the company is engaged in the business of Manufacturing and Distribution of Basic Commodities—such as water, hydration drinks, and other beverages—it is tasked to continuously operate its manufacturing plants to be able to produce and deliver its products to areas that would need them most.

“As we would need the services of some of our people to heed the call of the government to ensure that basic commodities, including some of our products, are delivered and made accessible to the Filipino people, PCPPI implemented various flexible work arrangements. We closed some plant in select areas at the onset of the enhanced community quarantine as called upon us by the government, and we made use of a skeletal workforce to support select line operations. This is still in keeping with our commitment to deliver high-quality products to our countrymen at this difficult time.
