Shining, shimmering, splendid Christmas trees

Christmas tree lighting of premier hotels and lifestyle malls all over the metro is always a joyous affair. There’s a special guest or two, sumptuous bites are served, entertainment always a delight, and, of course, the trees—in various colors and sizes—are a sight to behold.

Manila Standard Life has covered a number of stunning, sparkling trees such as those of Uptown Mall’s (Uptown Mall lights up red and pink Christmas tree, published Oct. 24), SM malls’ (Home for the holidays, published Nov. 14), Century Park Hotel’s, Diamond Hotel’s, Manila Hotel’s, City of Dreams’, Luxe Duty Free’s, and Conrad Manila’s (Christmas sparklers around town, published Nov. 24).

Here are some more Christmas trees whose décor we hope to recreate in our homes.

Red and gold holiday trees light up the Skyloft on the fourth level of the Makati mall. Century Properties Group executive chairman Jose E.B. Antonio, president and chief executive Marco Antonio, and president for retail and marketing Johnson Go led the tree lighting on Nov. 14

In addition to the trees, mall-goers can take photos with hot air balloons and gift décor that adorn the mall’s north and south entrances. They can also participate in the malls’ various activities or shop to earn rebates during the Shopaholic All In promo on the second week of December. A series of Masses will be held at the chapel on the fifth level.

Shangri-La Plaza Mall

The mall’s 58-foot Santa’s workshop-inspired Christmas tree is one of its stunning holiday decorations that showcase the magical, pristine, and colorful world of Santa’s Wonderland.

Mall guests are welcomed by elves at the entrances, with candy cane pillars supporting the official seal of the North Pole, and giant stars and Christmas balls dangling from the ceiling.

Shangri-La Plaza general manager Lala Fojas and Mandaluyong councilors Benjie Abalos III and Charisse Abalos led the ceremonial lighting.

AirAsia Philippines

A 30-foot Christmas tree decked with red trimmings welcomes travelers at the Arrival Hall of NAIA Terminal 3. The holiday display features bright lights, glistening ornaments, oversized passports, and Christmas socks displaying AirAsia destinations. An AirAsia A320 aircraft model sits on top of the tree.

Chief executive officer Ricky Isla led the tree lighting and the announcement of a photo contest that awards free roundtrip tickets for two. Contestants must take a photo with the AirAsia Christmas tree, upload it on Instagram, and post why AirAsia should fly them to their dream destination. Tag @airasiafilipino and use the hashtag #AirAsiaChristmas. Winners will be announced on Dec. 23.

Solaire Resort and Casino

Not just one but two 24-foot Christmas trees adorned with beautiful star toppers made of capiz delight guests of Solaire Resort and Casino.

The tree lighting was led by Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation chief operating officer Alfredo Lim, Parañaque City Mayor Edwin Olivarez, and Bloomberry Resorts Corporation president and chief executive Thomas Arasi. A live The Nutcracker performance by Ballet Manila added life to the event.

Bonifacio Global City

A stunning 55-foot Christmas tree stands tall alongside a sea of twirling fairies at the 7th Avenue. The fairy tale Christmas tree illuminates the district and the lives of the beneficiaries of Christmas Aklat Project led by the Fort Bonifacio Development Foundation.

Several activities are happening in BGC such Anticipated Simbang Gabi, fireworks display on all Fridays of December, and Santa meet and greet all Sundays of the month.

Shangri-La the Fort

Shangri-La the Fort

It’s a sustainable Christmas at Shangri-La the Fort as the hotel promotes environmental consciousness by adopting select Taguig City public schools educators through a partnership with WWF-Philippines’ Environmental Education (EE) Program.

Guests can help by purchasing the limited edition wooden Christmas ornaments created by local crafters. All proceeds will be used to support the EE program. They may hang the ornaments by the 10-foot wooden tree made of refurbished wood.
