MWM Terminals Inc., a consortium led by Megawide Construction Corp., said new solar electric jeepneys units are now operating at the country’s first land port, the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange.

“These new units embody the kind of first-world ingenuity that we at PITX aim to capture. Not only are we ensuring the comfort and convenience of passengers with these additional units, but we are also doing our part in abiding by the Philippine Clean Air Act and improving air quality in the Philippines,” said MWM Terminals general manager Mariano Arroyo Jr.

Great Power Movers Transportation Corp., operator of the e-jeep units, will deploy 33 units in the PITX-Sucat route.

Each unit seats 20 passengers and is equipped with Wi-Fi connection, electric fans, USB charging stations, and an LED screen. Jeepney charging stations are set to be built within the PITX premises.

The Sucat route will cover PITX, Macapagal Boulevard, MIA Road, Naia Road, Dr. A. Santos Avenue, and Meralco Road. Minimum fare for the solar jeepneys is P10.

PITX has a terminal capacity of 200,000 passengers daily with an expected footfall of close to 100,000 passengers daily.

The terminal systems are designed to be passenger-friendly, with assured seating system for buses, public information displays in multiple locations and ample seating throughout. Automated boarding pass scanners will ensure passengers can board buses only during their chosen trip schedules.

Atop the PITX are four office-grade towers that will allow tenants to benefit from the facility’s strategic location and 24/7 safe and friendly transport access. Each tower has 17,900 square meters of net leasable area. The first tower will open in the first half of 2019.

Inside the terminal are 12,000 square meters of leasable space that will feature F&B, retail and service options which will open by December this year.

PITX will also feature special facilities not normally found in other land terminals.
