Serving mezcal, mexican fare

Mezcal, tequila’s cousin, is currently earning its place in the limelight as more people are discovering the versatility of this agave spirit in creating cocktail concoctions.

To further explore mezcal, premium home furnishings specialty retailer Crate and Barrel, together with Malt Manila, hosted a mezcal and Mexican food pairing featuring Taco Vengo’s dishes at the SM Makati store.

Sotol served on a Callaway shot glass best paired with Taco Vengo’s Mushroom Tostada and Homestyle Taco on Crate and Barrel’s Party Plates 

Mezcal cocktails were served in Crate and Barrel’s glassware, namely Callaway shot glass and Dottie acrylic glass. Meanwhile, Taco Vengo’s signature dishes were creatively served in Crate and Barrel’s Cirque Dinnerware, Crawford Bowl, Santa Cruz Salsa Bowl, Rio Round Platter, and Set of 6 Party Plates.

Joining the event was no less than internationally renowned chef Aaron Isip, who shared his insights on the vibrant flavors of Mexico and the making of mezcal.

Taco Vengo’s Mushroom Tostada on Crate and Barrel’s Rio Round Platter 

Isip is an internationally renowned Chef de Cuisine who was awarded by renowned guide Gault et Millau the coveted Chef Espoir 2015 for Ile de France for his smart flavor combinations.
