PLAYING a cautious game will get the Philippine Malditas national women’s football team a long way when they see action in the Asian Football Confederation  Women’s Asian Cup Jordan 2018.

The Malditas are in Group A of the tournament, which begins on April 6 in Amman, Jordan.

Head coach Rabah Benlarbi said their first game against Jordan will be a challenge, but they will be ready.

“The first game will be tactical. We will be patient,” said the French coach Benlarbie when the Malditas had a send off last Wednesday at the Sheraton Hotel.

This will be the first time that the Philippines will participate in the Women’s Asian Cup after a qualifying round.

Last year, the Philippines clinched a berth to the final round after finishing their group in second place behind host Jordan with 3 wins, 1 draw, and 1 loss.

Following their qualification last year, the team had several training camps in the United States, Manila and Japan in preparation for the competition.

Also part of their bracket are China and Thailand.

Benlarbi said their training camp in Japan did wonders in getting the girls ready.

Making up the final list of  23 players that make the lineup are goalie Inna Palacios, Claire Lim, Alesa Dolino, Krystal de Ramos, Hali Long, Morgan Brown, Kathleen Rodriguez, Ma. Luisa Park, Jesse Anne Shugg,

Also making the cut are Caitlyn Kreutz, Kristen Bugay, Kearra Bastes-Jones, Leah Larot, Sara Castaneda, Stacey Cavill, Alexa Diaz, Calah Simarago, Tahnai Annis, Patrice Impelido, Quinley Quezada, Jessica Miclat, Chalise Basa and Sarina Bolden.
