Enforcers of the Inter-Agency Council for Traffic (i-ACT) have apprehended at least six (6) old public utility vehicles (PUVs).

At least two smoke-belching passenger bus units were included in the operation.

These were Malanday Metro Link Bus and Stella Mae Star Bus.

Department of Transportation (DOTr) Undersecretary Tim Orbos was along EDSA in Mandaluyong City when he saw the Malanday bus.

The second bus was seen by traffic enforcers along Quezon Avenue in Quezon City.

i-ACT team leader Jose Manuel Bonnevie reports, at least four (4) old jeepney units were also apprehended along Quezon Avenue.

He notes, most of the vehicles have delapidated bodies and worn-out tires.

Some of the jeepneys were not equipped with hand brakes.

The vehicles will be taken to accredited smoke emission testing centers.

Summons will be sent to their owners.

The campaign is part of government's program to modernize public transportation.
