2nd Wish 107.5 Music Awards on Jan. 16

Perhaps, Wish 107.5 kicks off the award season with a bang!

On Jan. 16, the phenomenal FM radio station is set to celebrate the world-class Filipino musicality via the 2nd Wish 107.5 Music Awards (WMA), “Your Wishclusive Gateway to the World” at SMART-Araneta Coliseum.

The event will also Wish 107.5’s way of giving back to the artists that it now considers the true heroes behind the station’s rise from a young FM station to the sought-after gateway of homegrown performers to the world.

This year saw the phenomenal rise of Wish 107.5’s digital platforms. Its YouTube channel, now with over 240 million views and 650,000 subscribers as of this writing, is recognized internationally for its wide array of WIShclusive performances that highlight the artistry of various OPM acts.

The official list of nominees may be viewed on the event’s website, www.wish1075.com/wishawards, and Wish 107.5’s social media accounts.

For WMA’s sophomore year, the nominees will be vying for the following categories: Wish Promising Artist, Best Wish Cover, Best WISHclusive Performance by a Young Artist, Best WISHclusive Performance by a Group or a Duo, Best WISHclusive Performance by a Female Artist, Best WISHclusive Performance by a Male Artist, Best WISHclusive Collaboration, Wish Original Song of the Year by a Group or a Duo, Wish Original Song of the Year  by a Female Artist, Wish Original Song of the Year by a Male Artist, Wish Young Artist of the Year, Wish Female Artist of the Year and Wish Male Artist of the Year.

Highest citations will be given to the first members of the WISHclusive Elite Circle, which will be one of the event’s highlights. The circle will be composed of music acts whose WISHclusive videos have garnered at least 10 million YouTube views. Artists with performances uploaded on the Wish 107.5 YouTube channel are eligible to join the exclusive group.

Another special social media recognition is the WISHclusive Viral Video of the Year, which will be awarded to the WISHclusive performance that became the most phenomenal among all the other nominated videos in the 2nd WMA.

The nominees were chosen by the WMA screening committee from the roster of artists whose songs were released and WISHclusive performances were rendered during the eligibility period, Nov. 1, 2015  to Oct. 31, 2016, after a month-long series of deliberation.

Online votes will comprise 50 percent of a nominee’s total score, while the other 50 percent will come from the votes of a select panel of judges. Polling period for the second WMA commenced on Dec.16, last year at 12nn and ends on Jan. 16 at 12 noon.

The first Wish 107.5 Music Awards was held on Jan. 26 last year. Besides handing out awards, the station also doled out cash prizes to the chosen beneficiaries of the winner in major categories.


Yasmien Kurdi is the featured performer in the first episode of Karelasyon today, the first for this year.

In the story, Sandy (Yasmien) and Martin (Ervic Vijandre) are conservative lovers who firmly believe in the sanctity of marriage. Ergo, they have decided to wait for this special day before consummating their love.

But their relationship is put to the test even before their anticipated wedding. In one tragic incident, Sandy was raped and her soon-to-be groom Martin was not able to protect her.

Will the wedding still push though after what happened? What will prevail in Martin’s heart—pity for Sandy, anger at himself, or the desire to take revenge?

The episode also stars Roi Vinzon, Lucho Ayala, and Aaron Yanga.
