Nike continues its biggest initiative in motivating women’s athletic journeys with the #BetterForIt campaign. With the campaign comes innovative products that elevate women’s experiences in getting fit for the better, together with use of its apps Nike Training Club and Nike Running app.

In the recently held Nike Tight Night event, female members from the media and fitness enthusiasts sweated it out and took Nike’s latest Tights innovation for a test drive. Tights are becoming a huge trend in the industry, not just for performance but even for off the court use for both men and women. Following this demand, Nike set forth to produce an innovative product made specifically for two kinds of activities – running and training with Nike’s all-new Power Speed and Zoned Sculpt tights.

“The Power Speed Tight is all about speed, giving you a lock-in fit for that best tight. The material that we used is a very slim-cut fine material, cut it in a way that would contour the body to give you a lock-in and a secure fit,” explains Andro Torres, Nike EKIN (brand evangelist, in-charge of product technology and innovation). “The best part about this tight is, since it’s made for running, all of the materials are considered to make sure that the tight is very light, so that regardless of whether you’re running a 5k or 21k, no matter how long or how fast or how hard you’re running, it will give you the same kind of weight and fit throughout the course of your run.”

Designers from Nike studied the body’s motion while running, and high activity areas are seen specifically in the thighs, calves, and around the Achilles area. Power Speed Tight has enhanced compression zones accentuated by screen-printed graphic lines that actually boost muscle control along the hip, thigh, calf and Achilles tendon. The rubberized print’s design actually resembles the flow of the running track. Not only does it perfectly fit the runner’s legs, it looks really sleek and stylish.

The Zone Sculpt Tight is made of a soft, light Dri-FIT fabric with a knit design crafted to provide compressive support to muscles around the core, quadriceps and glutes

During the Tight Night, Nike Power Speed Tight was put to the test, and with the use of Nike Running app together with Nike+ Run Club coach Ian Banzo, the participants braved a 30-minute, non-stop run for a 4km finish. Better for it so they say, as the women pushed themselves while enjoying the secure fit of the running tights. The pain from the strain and muscle tension during a run was alleviated due to the support of the compression zones. The material is so light, it felt almost as if the tights were part of the skin.

“The Sculpt Tight is a product Nike launched almost three years ago, and it’s been famous for its fit. So what we wanted to do for this season, is take that iconic ‘fit’ a notch higher,” shares Torres. “For the Zoned Sculpt, it’s called Zoned because we added heightened support in certain zones. Just like the running tights, we’ve discovered high activity areas in the body that need support to gain more control for those muscles.”

Training requires a more varied and vigorous training routine and this calls for more zoned supports. Nike designers studied the body’s movements with the use of six core training moves – push, pull, lunge, squat, bend and rotate. With this, they designed tights that wrap and move with the natural motion of a woman’s body, and define muscle movement at the same time promotes a sense of fluid control. The training tights are made from a soft, light Dri-FIT fabric with a knit design crafted to provide compressive support to muscles around the core, quadriceps and glutes.

40-minute mat exercises using the Zone Sculpt Tight

To test the Zoned Sculpt Tight, women participants from the Nike Tight Night went directly for another 40-minute training exercise with the use of the Nike Training Club app together with N+TC trainers Katz Salao and Kat Reambillo. “Sorry legs, this is for your own good,” exclaims a note on the wall as media and the other participants walked in on the venue. After a series of full body mat exercises, the tight remains intact and secured in the right places, relieving the usual tight discomfort when exercising.

Nike’s all-new Power Speed Tight retails for P7,295 and the Zoned Sculpt Tight is priced at P6,795. Discover more information about Nike Running or Nike Women’s tights or shop the Nike tights collection at nike.com.
