In celebration of the organization’s 75 years of global work for children, UNICEF is teaming up with Alejandro, more popularly known as “Kuya Robert”, to design greeting cards as part of its Basket of Hope campaign to help fund lifesaving programs for children.

A collector of UNICEF cards since childhood, Alejandro shares his thoughts on the partnership. “I was very excited when UNICEF tapped me to be part of this project to celebrate their 75th anniversary. I grew up knowing how UNICEF helps children around the world, ensuring they have access to basics like healthcare, education, clean water, and aid in emergencies. Being asked to design for such an iconic product is a dream come true for me. I am honored to be a part of the UNICEF Cards legacy.”

The impact of pandemic on children

The COVID-19 pandemic unleashed a global crisis that continues to overturn children’s lives everywhere.

UNICEF’s chief of fundraising and partnerships Susanna Snyman shares, “We all need hope in these difficult times, especially the most disadvantaged children and families. We are grateful to have Robert design these delightful cards as a token for all donors who contribute to UNICEF’s work for children.”

“These two years have been tough for all of us, most especially the children,” seconds Alejandro. “I wish that even just for the holidays, they would forget that there was a pandemic and enjoy being with the people they love and who love them back.”

Deliver hope with UNICEF Christmas cards

Alejandro shares his inspiration for designing the cards, “I’ve always been inspired by Philippine culture. I love how we live. I believe we are wonderful and kind people. We are fun loving, so incredibly unique, and so connected to each other. I’ve always wanted that to be seen and felt through my art.”

Through these cards designed with the theme “A Filipino Christmas”, UNICEF hopes that the reminder of joy, friendship, and a wish for a better year ahead can spark a chain of hope as donors send them out to friends and family this holiday season.

Each limited-edition box set contains 12 cards in four unique designs for Christmas and everyday celebrations. Anyone can get one box set when they sign up to be a monthly donor starting at P600 every month or for every one-time donation of P1,000.

Every donation will help provide vulnerable children improved access to learning tools and resources, health and nutrition services such as life-saving vaccines, and emergency support.
