Science and technology became more accessible to grade school and junior high school students nationwide through Diwa Learning Systems, Inc.’s Diwa Innovation Lab.

The pop-up Diwa Innovation Lab is composed of five interactive laboratories that promote critical thinking, creativity, and collaboration.

The Diwa Innovation Lab debuted in 2017. Diwa vice president for corporate and marketing communications Armel Espiritu said it “aims to develop interest in science, mathematics, and engineering by giving science clubs access to new technologies.”

It was composed of five interactive laboratories that promoted critical thinking, creativity, and collaboration.

The Drone Lab showed students how unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) work, and taught them about their applications in various fields of study; the Virtual Reality (VR) Lab, meanwhile, brought them to different places in the Philippines and even under the sea using cell phones and VR goggles; and the Robotics Lab enticed students to create a small robocar and program it to do specific actions.

In the Meteorology Lab, participants were taught how to use weather forecasting tools, while the BatoBalani Science Investigatory Lab featured experiments and encouraged students to jumpstart their own science investigatory projects.

“Diwa Innovation Lab reminded me that whatever technology that comes out, we should learn to use it responsibly. In the classroom, it’s more about learning concepts. Diwa Innovation Lab gave us a hands-on experience, and because of that I am grateful,” shared one high school student who participated in National Youth Science, Technology, and Environment Summer Camp.

More than 6,000 students from over 200 schools all over the Philippines were able to experience Diwa Innovation Lab during its initial two-year run.
