CEMEX Philippines recently turned over a newly constructed library, complete with books and other learning materials, to Dalig Elementary School in Antipolo City.

CEMEX Philippines Foundation implemented the Dalig Elementary School Library Project together with its donor, Dr. Karl-Heinz Sebastian, who provided the seed money for the initiative. Dr. Sebastian is the co-founder and senior partner at Simon-Kucher & Partners, a global management consulting firm.

BRIGHTER FUTURE AWAITS. Students at Dalig Elementary School get a better avenue to learn better and improve their skills.

“CEMEX Philippines Foundation and Dr. Karl-Heinz have always believed that books are part of the foundation of a good education. We are grateful that our shared belief has given us an opportunity to serve the children of Dalig Elementary School and their parents, along with the community and our common goal towards enhancing the youth’s welfare,” said Pedro Palomino, CEMEX Holdings Philippines president.

In fact, the newly constructed library was lauded for being the most functional and complete within its district by the Department of Education – Division of City Schools, Antipolo.

The event was graced by Antipolo City Councilors Loni Leyva and Nixon Aranas, Dalig Barangay Captain Jerome Leyva and council members, and representatives from the Department of Education.

The Dalig Elementary School Library Project is one of the ways CEMEX contributes to transforming communities through education.

Last summer, the Foundation also supported DepEd’s Brigada Eskwela activity or National School Maintenance Week in Dalig, where CEMEX H.E.R.O. (Help. Engage. Reach. Out.) employee volunteers painted the school walls.

“A better future for the country really starts with providing the youth apt avenues where they can learn better. Helping build and improve learning spaces forms part of our commitment to leave a sustainable and lasting legacy in areas where we operate,” said Chito Maniago, CEMEX Philippines Foundation executive director.
