We are in to the first week of the new year, which means you are either still recovering from all the feasts and festivities or are starting—or struggling to start—with your resolutions. The first step is always the hardest, it is said, so we gathered the following information that can help jumpstart some of the most popular new year’s resolutions.

If joining a race overwhelms you—with all the preparation and scheduling—why not join one where you can do it whenever and wherever you please? Skechers’s GORUN.PH lets you tackle a 21k, 50k, 100k, or 200k run for the entire month of January in a location suitable for you.

GORUN.PH is a virtual running event that allows runners to finish a selected distance within a period of time. Runners of the event’s third edition themed “Retrowave” can accomplish the challenge anytime, anywhere, and get a finisher’s shirt, medal, and trucker cap. You even have a chance to win a pair of Skechers GoRun 600 shoes if you join the 100k or 200k distance.

You have until the 15th to register online at www.skechers.com.ph/skechersgorunph. Go to www.facebook.com/gorunph or email admin@gorun.ph or contact 0998-8432997 for inquiries and more information.

SAVE MONEY: Start the 52-week Savings Challenge

If you want to strengthen your financial health by saving money, but don’t have the motivation to get on with it, try the 52-week Savings Challenge. This so-called challenge lets you save money by starting with small amounts and adding as the weeks pass.

For example, if you start with P50 for the first week of the year, you add another P50 next week, thus putting away P100. Add another P50 on the third week, and so on. Doing the P50 weekly increment will make you P68,900 richer by the end of 2018. You may also opt to start with P20 (save P27,560) or P100 (save P137,800). Blogger Rhea Mocorro introduced this method to Filipinos in 2014. Facebook page Peso Sense shared several variations of this saving challenge for 2018.

Because you start with small amount, putting away money won’t feel taxing and by the latter weeks of the year, you would have gotten into the habit of saving.
