Ito Curata dies of pneumonia

One of the pillars of Filipino fashion, Ito Curata on March 26 died of pneumonia complications arising from coronavirus disease. He was 60. 

The designer, according to a report by Lifestyle Asia, was confined for a week in ICU of the Asian Hospital before he succumbed to the illness. 

He was with his partner, Bob Miller who, as of this writing, is still being treated for pneumonia. 

Known for his bridal gowns and Filipiniana creations, Curata was a beloved presence in the fashion industry.

He took up Liberal Arts at the University of San Francisco and at the Academy of Art College. 

He honed his craft in the United States before establishing his brand in the Philippines. 

Curata's career spanned more than 30 years, working with notable clients including Hollywood actress Sharon Stone, former president Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, local celebrity Bea Alonzo, and the fashionable set of Manila's high society.
