Hollywood’s brightest stars once again descended to walk on the red carpet of Dolby Theater in Los Angeles for the 91st Academy Awards.

And while the awards night, the culmination of the awards season, was really for best films of 2018, it was also a big night for fashion—quite notably a night of pink hues and frothy tulles, with a splash of classic Hollywood glam.

This is Manila Standard Life’s best dressed list:

The Best Supporting Actress winner gave us a strong Angelina Jolie vibe with her leg-baring high-slit white Oscar de la Renta strapless gown. She further upped the elegance with Chopard jewels and white pointed pumps. The If Beale Street Could Talk star opted for a simple makeup look, focusing on her eyes. We would have preferred an updo or a sleek hairstyle, but the wavy lob surprisingly complemented her ensemble.

The Best Actress nominee may have lost the award to Olivia Colman, but her red carpet ensemble looked every bit the trophy she coveted. The 71-year-old actress wore a stunning gold custom-made Carolina Herrera number. The floor-length dress with cape was made with four million beads and weighed more than 19 kilos. Suffice to say, the dress more than made up for everything.

Astrid Leong of the hit rom-com Crazy Rich Asians made a bold statement—in the form of bright pink Valentino Couture gown with ruffled neckline and, get this: pockets where she stored cookies to eat during the show. Functionality aside, her voluminous, cookie-stashing dress was a breath of fresh air. She kept her look soft and simple: hair up, minimal makeup, and a few jewels.

Helen Mirren

The Eye in the Sky star looked like a regal fairy in tulle Schiaparelli gown which was cinched around her waist with a fabric belt. She added more pink to her outfit with a hot pink clutch and pink lipstick. She also wore a dazzling collection of jewels worth $6 million.

Emilia Clarke

Like a true queen—or khaleesi— that she is, the Game of Thrones star was a picture of timeless elegance in a form-fitting (“literally can’t pee in this dress”) metallic lilac strapless gown from Balmain. She accented the dress with diamond bracelet and earrings, berry pink lipstick from Dolce & Gabbana Beauty, and her new short and sleek chestnut brown bob.

Marina de Tavira

With so many tulle ruffles on the red carpet, we believe the Roma star was the one who did it right. The 44-year-old Mexican actress turned heads in gorgeous cherry frilly tiered J. Mendel strapless dress. She accessorized it with jewelry pieces from Lorraine Schwartz.

Amy Adams

Always on the best-dressed list, the Best Supporting Actress nominee slayed the Oscars red carpet once again in a mermaid-esque metallic Versace gown with a matching pendant necklace. The Vice star, who’s always a picture of old Hollywood glam, parted her hair down the center this time and opted for beachy waves to complement the under the sea theme.

Lady Gaga

It was a big night for the A Star Is Born actress as she won her first Oscar trophy for Best Original Song, received a standing ovation for her performance with Bradley Cooper, and she definitely succeeded in giving everyone a Holly Golightly feels with her black Alexander McQueen gown, 128-carat canary yellow Tiffany Diamond necklace which was last worn by Audrey Hepburn for her Breakfast at Tiffany’s publicity photos in 1961, and Ms. Golightly-esque updo.

Billy Porter

The Pose star definitely turned heads and “shattered” expectations when he arrived at Dolby Theater in a black velvet Christian Siriano tuxedo-ball gown. It was definitely the talk of the night, which was how he intended it. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, he said, “Why is it a woman can wear pants and nobody bats an eye and a man wears a dress and people are disgusted? Why is that? What is that saying in our culture? Man is better and female is disgusting? I just wanted to shatter that. Just shatter that.”
