Body wash, hand wash, lotion, and pink surgical masks. Those were some of the items Kris Aquino recently bought online, according to her.
With the pandemic restricting movements, especially of those whose immune systems are compromised like Aquino’s who has auto-immune condition (Chronic Spontaneous Urticaria), the actress and TV host has become a regular customer of e-commerce platforms like Shopee.
“We really order so much from Shopee. Before, inuutos ko bumili. Initially COD (cash on delivery) kami but then I opened my ShopeePay account because I was told you get more discounts,” Aquino related during a virtual press event held via Zoom for the launch of Shopee 11.11-12.12 Big Christmas Sale, for which the “Queen of All Media” was tapped as ambassador.
Aquino, grateful for the new endorsement, shared the project came “at a low point” of her life. “There was a project I was supposed to do that did not push through.” In September, she announced on Instagram that her show “Love Life with Kris” that was supposed to air on TV5 had been cancelled.
“But I believe God finds a way to make you go where He wants you to go, a direction you’re not supposed to go,” she enthused, adding that when she received the call from Shopee, she had to ask them if they were serious.
“This was bigger than what was not given to me,” declared Aquino.
Martin Yu, associate director at Shopee Philippines, said, “Having Kris Aquino join our Shopee family demonstrates our continuous efforts to reach our long-term vision of making e-commerce for everyone. We want to connect with our Filipino users on a deeper level and help them enjoy the benefits of e-commerce this Christmas season.”
As Shopee’s ambassador, Aquino will be appearing on GMA for a special “Wowowin” episode on November 11, her TV comeback four years after her show on ABS-CBN ended.
“Let’s keep our fingers crossed because I myself won’t believe it until I’m there. Until I’m holding that microphone and I see those lines, until I see the camera with the red light on, and until I see the monitor and see myself in it, then I will believe it, she said.
Aquino also stars in Shopee commercial that partly pays homage to her horror film “Feng Shui.” TikTok videos and themed stickers on Instagram also feature the actress.
Additionally, Aquino teams up with Shopee as the face of Shopee Bayanihan: Pamaskong Pambata that aims to raise funds to support Filipino youth’s health, education, and welfare. Partner organizations include PGH Medical Foundation, GMA Kapuso Foundation, FundLife, World Vision Philippines, Ronald McDonald House Charities, Mano Amiga, Young Focus Philippines, Save the Children, Project Pearls, Project SMILE, and Kythe Foundation.
Exciting games, prizes, and deals and discounts are happening on Shopee today until December 12.
And because she loves shopping, Aquino shared she only gets a fixed amount in her ShopeePay account to prevent herself from overspending.
