The start of the Japanese spring season became a special day for Filipino fans of Seiko, a Japanese company widely known as the manufacturer of great-value and excellently crafted watches, as the brand opened its premium boutique at Mitsukoshi Mall in Bonifacio Global City in Taguig.

Seiko also celebrates its 110th anniversary of watchmaking and the 55th anniversary of its Seiko 5 Sports collection.

The new Seiko branch offers both Seiko and Grand Seiko timepieces. The shop’s appealing color scheme of warm tones and neutrals, along with the expertly produced watches, creates an atmosphere of subtle elegance.

Mitsukoshi Deputy General Manager Koichi Asakawa, Seiko Philippines Operations Manager Daniel Perez, Timeplus Corporation Vice President Raissa Dy-Yam, Timeplus Corporation Vice President for Marketing Edric Dy, and Mitsukoshi General Manager Mitsunori Morohoshi

“Firstly, we are proud to open our 10th Seiko Premium Boutique here in Mitsukoshi Mall, BGC, which marks a significant step in our continuous effort to serve our patrons and expand our offerings to meet the needs of our deserving customers. Secondly, we are thrilled to commemorate Seiko Watchmaking’s 110th anniversary,” said Edric Dy, Timeplus Corporation Vice President for Marketing.

Seiko commemorates its 110th anniversary as it released its first-ever GMT-equipped (a watch with a 24-hour format hand that additionally displays a second-time zone) Prospex lineup, with its Modern Re-interpretation of 1968 Diver’s (SPB381/SPB383), also including the SPB385 – Save the Ocean Limited Edition.

But there’s more for the Prospex lineup as Seiko revealed its 1970 Diver’s Modern reinterpretation through the Naomi Uemura Limited Edition (SLA069). It’s the brand’s way of remembering Naomi Uemura, a Japanese adventurer known for achieving remarkable feats, such as becoming the first person to ascend five of the Seven Summits of the world and the first mountain climber from Japan to reach the top of Everest.

For people who prefer classic design, particularly dress watches, Seiko also released its 110th-anniversary limited edition Presage Craftsmanship Series, which shows traditional Japanese watch dials. This series used different materials, including enamel (SPB393), Urushi lacquer (SPB395), Arita porcelain (SPB397), and Shippo enamel (SPB399). Moreover, a 110th Anniversary Seiko Presage Limited Edition (SPB359) was also released.

“Basically, it (SPB359) is a reintroduction or reinterpretation of the original Laurel watch that was launched in Japan, Seiko Japan, in 1913. The Seiko Laurel watch is actually the first Japanese wristwatch, meaning the first Japanese wristwatch that was launched in Japan,” added Daniel Perez, Seiko Philippines Operations Manager.

King Seiko, the top of the Seiko range, presents a fresh lineup. The gradient dial of the SPB365 exposes a design influenced by the geometric pattern known as Kikkoumon, based on the hexagonal form of the tortoise shell. Moreover, SPB369, SPB371, and SPB373 are in stainless steel with white, dark blue, and green dials, respectively.

As the brand also celebrated its Seiko 5 Sports 55th anniversary this year, it released the 55th Anniversary Masked Rider Limited Edition (SRPJ91). It has collaborated with the popular television show Masked Rider, which debuted in 1971 and has fascinated viewers ever since.

The new Seiko Premium Boutique is on the first floor of the Mitsukoshi Mall in BGC. They are open daily from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM. For inquiries, email info@seikophilippines.com.
