That silken touch

That silken touchEver since I retired from my airline designation, my visits to Makati have become less frequent. Being a Manila resident, I limited my sphere of activity to within my city and the neighboring entertainment area in Pasay City. Needless to say, the continuing traffic problem was the deciding factor for my self-imposed limited mobility.

This is why, just the other day, I was pleasantly surprised to see a very tall building at the western end of Ayala Avenue, right next to Makati Medical Center, when our association held our first Board Meeting. It turned out that our venue was this tall building, now a deluxe hotel.

The hotel’s infinity pool on the 19th floor glistens high above the buildings of Makati.

The Seda Residences Makati is a recently opened Ayala property. As I entered the hotel’s ground floor lobby, I knew right away I was in for a terrific visual treat when the welcome staff told me that the main lobby is on the building’s 19th floor.  The soothing panoramic view of the city, highlighted by the hotel’s infinity pool, greeted me as I stepped out of the elevator.

Seda Residences Makati stands at the western end of Ayala Avenue, right next to one of the country's leading medical facilities.

The hotel has 293 rooms, ranging from studio to three-bedroom suite. The studios are quite spacious, with sizes from 31 to 43 square meters. Their three-bedroom suites are large, at 143 square meters. The interiors are tastefully and elegantly decorated, with a functional design that makes the occupant comfortable and at ease.

All rooms have kitchen facilities which make them very convenient for long-staying guests or those who do not want to go out for meals. The bigger rooms even have a washer and dryer.

And it’s no simple kitchen either. It has a complete set of chinaware, glassware, and silverware, an electric kettle, microwave oven, an oven toaster, and induction cooktop with range hood. The kitchen also boasts a full-sized refrigerator, rice cooker, and a complete set of kitchen tools.

But for those who prefer to experience dining in style and comfort, the Misto Restaurant on the 35th floor offers buffet breakfast and lunch, and a breathtaking view of the city. The al fresco patio of the restaurant is the Straight Up Bar, offering a wide array of finger food, wines, and cocktails, ensuring a most refreshing and relaxing experience, with the city’s skyline glittering below and the wind blowing from every which way.

I’m glad I discovered this new hotel and, having experienced their service when we had our Board Meeting, I have to say that it lives up to its name. This new addition to our accommodations industry, Seda Residences Makati, banners the seamless, smooth, silken touch that every fastidious traveler looks for.
