Hospitality brands embrace sustainability through seed exchange initiative

Belmont Hotel Manila and Savoy Hotel Manila have launched a sustainability initiative to promote eco-friendly practices within their shared spaces.

The collaboration, part of Megaworld Hotels and Resorts’ MEGreen program, includes a seed exchange aimed at enhancing communal gardens. Savoy Hotel Manila’s team will plant Romaine lettuce at Belmont Hotel Manila, while Belmont will grow Chinese kale and Red Amarante at Savoy’s rooftop garden, the statement said.

The harvested produce will be used in the hotels’ culinary offerings to support farm-to-table dining and reinforce their commitment to locally sourced ingredients. The initiative also serves as an opportunity for staff to engage in hands-on sustainability efforts, encouraging teamwork and resource-sharing between the two properties.

Belmont Hotel Manila and Savoy Hotel Manila, both located within Newport City, are working to create vibrant green spaces that enhance the aesthetic appeal of their surroundings while contributing to environmental conservation. By integrating sustainable gardening practices, the hotels aim to reduce their carbon footprint and provide guests with fresh, locally grown ingredients in their dining experiences.

Apart from the seed exchange, the hotels have also committed to expanding their sustainability efforts by implementing waste reduction programs, energy-efficient solutions, and educational initiatives for staff and guests. These measures are in line with Megaworld Hotels and Resorts’ broader MEGreen framework, which advocates for responsible environmental stewardship across its properties.
