Park Inn by Radisson North EDSA has hired its first employee from a housekeeping training program designed for former detainees, the hotel announced.
Marissa Basa joined the hotel as a housekeeping attendant under Multi-Access Cooperative after completing the Basic Housekeeping Skills Training for Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) at the Quezon City Jail Female Dormitory.
The program, launched in October 2024, is part of Park Inn by Radisson North EDSA’s partnership with the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) and the Quezon City government, aligning with Mayor Joy Belmonte’s No Woman Left Behind initiative. The project aims to equip women with skills to reintegrate into the workforce.
Quezon City officials, executives from SM Hotels & Conventions Corp. (SMHCC), and representatives from Radisson Hotel Group attended a ceremony on Feb. 13 to mark Basa’s hiring.
The training program follows international hospitality standards through the World Sustainable Hospitality Alliance’s global housekeeping curriculum. A Park Inn Standard Room was built within the detention facility for hands-on training, with sessions conducted by a TESDA-certified trainer from the Quezon City Skills and Livelihood Foundation.
Park Inn by Radisson North EDSA, part of SMHCC, said it remains committed to offering employment opportunities to program graduates.
