How to succeed in becoming world-class hotelier

Discovery Hospitality, a pioneer in Philippine luxury hospitality, continues to cement its reputation as a leader in the industry, earning prestigious accolades and launching initiatives to nurture future hoteliers.

In 2024, Discovery Primea was named “Best Luxury Business Hotel,” while Discovery Hospitality received the titles of “Leading Hospitality Brand in the Philippines” and “Best Hospitality Services Provider” at the World Business Outlook Awards. The group’s Vice President and Head of Digital Marketing and Branding, Blessy Townes, also garnered the “Hospitality Digital Marketing Leader of the Year for Asia-Pacific” award.

Earlier in the year, Discovery Boracay and Discovery Coron secured recognitions at the 2024 World Travel Awards and Travel + Leisure Luxury Awards Asia Pacific.

These achievements highlight Discovery’s commitment to excellence and serve as an inspiration to aspiring hoteliers. Executives within the organization emphasize qualities such as passion, adaptability, and resilience as key traits for success in the ever-changing hospitality landscape.

Townes, a recognized leader in digital marketing, underscored the importance of staying ahead of trends, building personal branding, and fostering professional networks. “Don’t be mediocre. Be the best in your field,” she said.

Senior vice president and human resources head Didoy Fullon echoed the sentiment, emphasizing the importance of creating meaningful experiences for both guests and employees.

In line with its mission to cultivate talent, Discovery Hospitality recently partnered with Enderun Colleges, a leading hospitality school in the Philippines. The partnership will provide four grants of up to P100,000 each for students pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, specializing in Hospitality.

Beginning January 2025, selected students will gain access to internships at Discovery’s premier properties, including Discovery Boracay, Discovery Coron, Discovery Primea, and Discovery Suites.

“This collaboration underscores our shared commitment to academic excellence and the development of future leaders in hospitality,” said Jun Parreño, Chief Operating Officer of Discovery Hospitality Corporation.

The initiative aims to prepare the next generation of hoteliers to excel on a global scale, aligning with Discovery Hospitality’s vision of shaping world-class industry professionals.
