European appliances brand Beko launches a new product line that helps eliminate bacteria and viruses—including coronavirus.
The new HygieneShield portfolio consists of seven appliances with built-in disinfection programs and functions to disinfect packaged food and belongings.
According to the brand, the groundbreaking product line uses methods such as steam and heat.
The line is composed of UV cleaning cabinet (a portable device ideal for disinfecting keys, wallets, phones, etc.); combi refrigerator with disinfection drawer (eliminates 99 percent of bacteria and viruses in approximately 40 minutes); tumble dryer with UV light technology (disinfects laundry);
HygieneShield washing machine and washer dryer (eliminates 99 percent of viruses and bacteria from 2kg clothes in 58 minutes using hygiene therapy); built-in oven with saturated steam and heat (disinfects surfaces of packaged food in 15 minutes under 70-degree Celsius and disinfects metal bowls and glass products in 20 minutes under 120-degree Celsius); and HygieneShield dishwasher (uses the Hygiene Intense function to disinfect dishes).
“The products have been tailored to help consumers achieve professional levels of hygiene at home and protect them from infections and diseases,” said Arçelik’s chief executive officer Hakan Bulgurl.
Bulgurl added, “As of today, HygieneShield washing machines and refrigerators have been shown to provide more than 99 percent bacteria and virus reduction. The tests for the other categories are in progress and we expect to finalize the testing and certification processes by November.”
