How to save more money when cooking at home

If you want to save money, they say you should cook your food at home. It’s more cost-effective than eating out or ordering takeout, and you know what goes into your meals.

Choosing the right burner is vital in maximizing the cooking gas.

It’s possible to save more money while saving money; an LPG brand shares tips on economical cooking at home.

Get your ingredients ready

Some people tend to prepare the ingredients in the middle of the cooking session while the cooking gas is on. Not only is this a waste of time but also an unnecessary waste of gas. It is best to prepare all ingredients ahead of cooking time and put them within reach as the cooking goes on.

Defrost before cooking

Many home cooks use microwave oven to defrost frozen food. While convenient, this consumes a lot of electricity. Instead of using a microwave, take out frozen ingredients ahead of cooking time, place them on the counter and thaw at room temperature.

Use low heat as much as possible

When cooking or tenderizing meat by boiling, make sure to cover the pot with the lid and lower the heat as soon as it starts to boil. Leave it simmering until soft and tender.

Choose the right burner

The bigger the burner, the more energy or cooking gas is used. Hence, when using a small pan to cook, use a smaller burner. Those who have only one burner or whose burners are of the same size, can turn down the flame as soon as the food starts to boil to maximize cooking gas.

Keep LPG well-maintained

Keep the household safe by turning off the LPG cylinder valves when not in use. Do a regular maintenance check of burners, regulators, hose, and LPG tank to make sure they are clean and functioning well. More kitchen maintenance and cooking tips are available at www.solane.com.ph.
