My Furry Bestie

This corner features pets of animal lovers every week. We hope new owners and those thinking of getting a pet will be encouraged to be responsible “furparents” through these features. We also hope more people will be moved to be kind to animals when they read about the great relationship that can be created between humans and animals.

Basha is God’s answer to the fervent prayers of Dr. Jenny Orquiza, an optometrist.

Jenny had been asking God to erase the longing for a baby when one day, she saw Basha’s photo online and she instantly fell in love with her.

“It was love at first sight when I saw this double dapple dachschund. Without any doubt, I took her in, “ Jenny recalls.

“She's one of the reasons why I’m very happy and  why I can manage all the stress,” Jenny says.

Jenny shares that she and Basha are both survivors: Basha survived parvo while she survived cancer.

“That makes us Real Filipina:  strong and a survivor. We are fighters,” says Jenny.

“Recently, we started joining fashion shows and I am grateful that she always wins,“ says Jenny.

Basha is now two years and three months old, and continues to make furmom Jenny a very happy human.

Check out her Facebook page called Life With Basha.
