Depending on a person’s perception, the rainy season could be a good thing or bad. On the one hand, it’s nippy so it’s a great time to wear layers, among other things. On the other, it’s gloomy, it’s wet, and it brings inconveniences such as diseases.

Protecting body from rainy season health hazards

Asia’s leading health and beauty retailer Watsons helps keep consumers informed by sharing ways they can protect themselves from the risk factors brought by the rainy season.

Protect yourself against germs

The sudden and dramatic shifts in weather wreak havoc on a person’s immune system. When the immune system is weak and compromised, that regular cough and cold are able thrive and spread until it seems like everybody’s got it.

Protect yourself and boost your immunity against germs by taking regular vitamins and supplements like Lola Remedios. Just in case you do get sick, stock up on cough, cold, and fever medicines like Neozep and Strepsils.

Germs also cause problems in other parts of the body. Bacteria in mouth can cause bad breath, with which Listerine and Swish can help. Meanwhile, bacteria in underarms can cause body odor—Bench, Old Spice, and Gyne Pro can help battle that.

Protect yourself against weather

The ugly effects of wild weather don’t stop with germs. It seems contradictory, but the wet season can dry a person’s skin out. The shift in weather can cause skin damage and drying. Skin dryness can lead to wrinkles and other visible signs of premature aging. That’s why, despite the humidity, it is best to use more moisturizer.

Watsons carries a wide range of products and brands for various skin needs. Olay is for anti-aging, Snail White for lightening, Neutrogena, Nivea, and Myra E for healthy glow, and Celeteque for sensitive skin.

Protect yourself against pollution

The rain does little to wash away toxins in the air. Combine the damaging effects of dirty air with the changes in humidity and it results in a lot of frizz. It is strongly recommended to give hair added protection to address specific needs.

Head and Shoulders can help counter dandruff issues. Palmolive is great for recovering damaged strands. Colored hair may opt for Bigen for conditioning that’s ammonia-free.

Protect yourself against stress

Aside from contributing to a lowered immune system and speeding up the skin aging process, stress can cause thinning of the hair, or worse, fall out. Novuhair is proven to help deal with the stress of hair fall.

Watsons and SM Advantage Card members get a chance to win 1,000,000 shopping points + free personal accident insurance for every P500 single-receipt purchase of any of the participating products. There will be 24 winners of 5,000 bonus points; 18 winners of 10,000 bonus points; 10 winners of 20,000 bonus points; six winners of 50,000 bonus points; and two winners of P100,000 bonus points, which can be used to shop at Watsons.
