Hundreds experienced renewal and serenity through meditation and holding poses at the recent International Day of Yoga celebration at the Music Hall of SM Mall of Asia.

The Pavana Muktasana or The Wind Releasing Posture relieves constipation and decreases bloating sensation in the abdomen.

A joint partnership between the Indian Embassy in the Philippines and SM, the International Day of Yoga celebration commenced with the traditional lighting of the lamp which is believed to signify a successful occasion. It was followed by a video message from Prime Minister Narendra Modi who emphasized how yoga connects body, mind, intellect, and soul. 

The United Nations declared June 21 as the International Day of Yoga as proposed by Modi.

The Sarvangasana or Shoulder Stand pose helps alleviate high blood pressure and spinal weakness.

The Common Yoga Protocol, which creates general awareness of harmony and peace through yoga, was led by Sumit Kumar, the Indian Embassy’s yoga and Indian culture teacher, and Speedo Philippines president Chandru Mahtani.

Professional instructors from different local yoga schools then conducted group yoga sessions, while Rajni Daulatram of Brahma Kumaris Philippines completed the celebration with a Raja Yoga Meditation.

The Tadasana or Palm Tree Posture teaches one to attain stability and firmness.

Yoga is a 5000-year legacy from India, which is practiced all over the world. It has a universal message of integrating the mind, body, and soul as well as creating harmony between mankind and nature. It is considered a way of life more than simply a form of exercise, and can be embraced by people of all ages.

Participants of all ages to the International Day of Yoga experience peace and connection. 

The International Day of Yoga, organized in association with the Philippine National Police, National Youth Commission, Tech Mahindra, and Speedo, aimed to gather people who have appreciation and understanding of the health benefits of yoga and Indian culture in general.
