Caring for skin goes beyond the summer season. Here’s a rule thumb: throughout the year—rain or shine, indoor or outdoor—UV rays are present and can cause serious damage on a person’s largest and, as it is, most exposed organ.

Keep skin cool with a facial spray

Always have a bottle of facial mist ready especially when outdoors. Not only does this help the face cool down a bit, it can also soothe and hydrate skin.

Stay hydrated

It’s a year-round priority to stay hydrated, especially during increased temperatures, to avoid dizziness and headaches. Drinking eight glasses of filtered water can go a long way in maintaining proper health so always bring a water tumbler.

Use sunscreen

Unknown to many, sun’s rays are dangerous even on cloudy days. Hence, underscoring the importance of wearing sunscreen every day.

Skin SOS: Post-summer skincare

Choose a sunscreen that provides UVA and UVB protection with SPF levels of 30 or higher. It is recommended to reapply every two hours for maximum protection, and if possible, stay away from direct sunlight during peak hours of 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Wear a hat

More than a fashion accessory, wearing a hat—ideally one with a wide brim—whenever outside, can help shield a person properly from the sun’s harmful rays.

Skin SOS: Post-summer skincare

Relieve, exfoliate, moisturize

Suffering from sunburn after failing to apply sunblock? Don’t wait any longer and immediately apply soothing creams and cooling gels to reduce inflammation and redness.

Get rid of dead skin cells by exfoliating using facial and body scrubs. Apply a moisturizing cream to help keep skin hydrated and soft, especially after taking a shower.

Skin SOS: Post-summer skincare

Caring for skin and protecting it from harmful rays is just one of the many wellness habits a person can practice to protect their health, that aside from getting an insurance. Axa Philippines offers a line of superior health plan products such Global Health Access, Health Max, and Health eXentials, each one designed to provide the health protection for various needs.
