This corner features pets of animal lovers every week. We hope new owners and those thinking of getting a pet will be encouraged to be responsible “furparents” through these features. We also hope more people will be moved to be kind to animals when they read about the great relationship that can be created between humans and animals.

BELLA is a rescued dog who is now Diorg Seranicne’s furbaby.
“On my way home, I pass by LRT where I feed a lot of stray dogs. I specially loved a dog named Tisoy. After a year, I learned from people in the area that Tisoy was adopted. I felt so sad but I prayed he was taken to a good home, “ Diorg says.
“After a month, the commercial building in the area was sold and the owner left his dog named Bella. I learned that Bella had no food and water for two weeks, “ Diorg recalls.
Diorg adds: “Fortunately, a vendor approached me and told me Bella was in the building and asked if I wanted to adopt Bella. I felt so sorry for Bella that I decided to adopt her right there and then.“
Bella was so weak due to starvation and dehydration. The good people in the area helped Diorg get Bella and put her inside a tricycle so Diorg can bring her home.
Bella tried to escape many times while “quarantined” in the garage.
Diorg never gave up on Bella.
“I decided to put her inside the house, “ Diorg says.
However, Diorg’s little dog named Dora refused to allow Bella to go inside the house. Dora barked continuously.
“I had to calm Dora while I pet Bella to get Bella used to my touch. Bella is a very shy dog and afraid of the new place. She used to stay in one place,” Diorg says.
Diorg was also afraid that Bella might have ticks and fleas.
“I gave her a bath even though she struggled at first, “Diorg recalls.
Bella also did not eat or drink water during the first days. Diorg got Bella’s trust by touching her everyday.
Today, Bella is one smiling, happy dog. She is finally learning to enjoy her home, and Diorg's love and attention.
(Editor’s note: A new dog must not be mixed with older dog residents immediately to ensure 1). They will not fight. They need time to get used to each other. Eventually, they will realize the threat they perceived had no basis. They will feel secure with each other’s presence as time passes; 2. Any disease cannot be transmitted is present in the new dog. It is important to observe the new dog. Better yet, bring the dog to a vet first for a check-up. Dogs also take time to trust people, specially after a traumatic experience. Dogs also try to go back to the place where they grew up or got accustomed to. Thus, extra care is needed. The dog must be secured to keep her or him safe.
KHAL DOGO, born Nov.12 last year, loves to chase empty plastic bottles, says owner Jennifer P. Velasco.
“He hates it when we leave him alone in the house. Jennifer adds.
She also says, “He looooves belly rubs.. and he has an on-going feud with a plastic chair at home. He's such a ball of energy and good vibes, and we just love him.”
