Acclaimed to be among the finest and best desserts in Tokyo, the exquisite Original Mille Crepe, one of the cake creations of Tokyo’s Grand Dame of Specialty Cakes, Madam Kazuko Emy Wada, is now being served in 16 stores in Manila.

The Philippine branches of Paper Moon Cake Boutique and Cafe of Tokyo are located at Glorietta, TriNoma, SM Megamall, SM Aura, Uptown Mall BGC, SM Mall of Asia, Eastwood Mall, UP Town Center, Robinsons Place Manila, Promenade Greenhills, Edsa Shangri-La, Robinsons Magnolia, Robinsons Galleria, Evia Lifestyle Center, Vertis North, and SM North Edsa.

Paper Moon offers a fresh, distinctive slice of French specialty cakes and pastries created with meticulous Asian skill that is distinctly Japanese. It was founded by Madam Emy in 1985 in various locations in Japan such as Tokyo, Haneda Airport, Osaka, Kyoto, Ginza, and Kariwaza Lake Town.

In 1990, she continued to be the preferred cake and pastries purveyor of the biggest Japanese coffee chains, namely Doutor and Tully’s, and fine French shopping brand Printemps, with her clients all clamoring for her extraordinary Paper Moon specialty cakes, especially her signature Original Mille Crepe.

More popularly known as “crepe cake,” Madam Emy’s Original Mille Crepe, which literally means “a thousand crepes,” is an exquisite creation of no less than 20 delicate, paper-thin handmade crepes layered with light pastry cream and topped with golden, caramelized crust.

Paper Moon’s other specialty cakes include Mango Mille Crepe, Chocolate Mille Crepe, Strawberry Short Cake, Checkered Cake, and Ultimate Ube Mille Crepe.

Madam Emy’s crepe cake and other specialty cakes caught the attention of Filipino show business and entertainment mogul, Vicente “Boss Vic” del Rosario, Jr. during his frequent travels in Tokyo and New York.

Known for having the instinct and the “golden touch” in tapping creative geniuses in all forms and transforming them into superstars, Boss Vic has convinced Madam Emy, who has gone into retirement in 2013, to let Filipinos experience the exquisite taste of the Original Mille Crepe and her other signature specialty cake creations.

Boss Vic and Madam Emy have then partnered through Viva International Food & Restaurants, Inc., the food subsidiary of the Viva Group of Companies, in bringing Paper Moon Cake Boutique and Cafe to Manila, and later on to the rest of Southeast Asia.
