Tokyo-inspired fleece collection lands in Manila

Japanese street style has long been celebrated for its fearless mix of vintage Americana, bold patterns, and relaxed silhouettes, shaping global fashion from Harajuku to Shibuya.

Bringing that sensibility to the mainstream, Uniqlo is teaming up with Tokyo label Needles for the first time, unveiling a fleece collection that fuses underground cool with Uniqlo’s signature comfort.

Uniqlo and Needles launch a Tokyo-inspired fleece collection featuring relaxed silhouettes and the brand’s iconic butterfly motif

Launching Oct. 31, the lineup brings Needles founder Keizo Shimizu’s iconic butterfly motif and 1970s-inspired cuts into Uniqlo’s LifeWear line. Shimizu, who founded Needles in 1995 under his Nepenthes umbrella, said the collaboration aims to “bring the world of Needles to a wider audience” while reimagining Uniqlo’s bestselling fleece staples.

The capsule features three pieces: a full-zip jacket (P2,490), oversized cardigan (P1,990), and wide-leg pants (P1,990). Available in muted tones of black, gray, beige, and purple, the designs highlight relaxed cuts, side stripes, and Needles’s signature color palette.

Genderless and minimalist in design, the fleece range marks a rare crossover between a mass global retailer and a cult Japanese label with international influence.

The collection will be available at Uniqlo’s Manila Global Flagship, SM Mall of Asia, SM Megamall, and online via uniqlo.com.
